As usual in the yachting world, sailing for some country doesn’t mean having the same citizenship. So happens now. Three crews of UAE is represented by two skippers are from Germany, the third one – from Ukraine.
First of them – UAE 7 (Markus Wieser, Sergey Pugachev, Diego Negri). Wieser have won European Championship 4 times (2012, 2010, 2009, 2007) and three times – the Gold cup (2014, 2013, 2011). He is an experienced skipper with the desire to win.
The second crew from UAE also has a German skipper: Hendrick Witzmann sails with Georgii Leonchuk and Marcus Koy (UAE 20). Last year, Witzmann ended the European Championship as the runner-up. This time he will try to make a step forward.
And the third team from UAE is the third just in the order listed. Yevgen Braslavets (UAE 8) is a current European and World Champion; so he will try to defend his title with the help of his crew: Oleksandr Myrchuk and Sergiy Timokhov. Also, Braslavets is a former Olympic Champion (1996, Atlanta) and World Champion (2001, Koper) in the 470 class.
