The forecast and preliminary information from Ministry of Extraordinary Situations (MCHS or EMERCOM) about stormy weather on the 23rd of July, 2015 were taken into consideration but the weather decided not to upset the sailors of so respected class thus the finest match racing teams enjoyed better weather conditions than it was forecasted. Both of the flights took place according to the schedule. Believe it or not but the participants of the competition were playing chess on water – that is exactly how the competitions of this dragon class yachts are often called: the crews had to battle their opponents fighting for every single centimeter.
Anatoly Loginov (RUS 27), Oleg Evdokimenko (RUS 47) Dmitry Samokhin (RUS 76) became today the leaders in the first flight. Results of the second flight of the day: Vasily Senatorov (RUS 34), Igor Goyhberg (RUS 98), Dmitry Samokhin (RUS 76).
Gleb Suloev (RUS 11):
“Phenomenal competitions! Absolutely everything is being done at the highest level! The competitors are strong and the efforts of the crews are concentrated on winning the victory- that is great! This day has brought us no change- we are still enjoying the results we achieved as much as the crew of Viktor Los, we are on the same wavelength. But there are two more racing days in store for us – we’ll find out what is there in the wind very soon!”
Vasily Senatorov (RUS 34):
“The second racing day was well planned and organized. The racing distance – it takes the boat round about one hour and twenty minutes – a very good distance taken and good time for the match race. Without any doubt the leaders of the Championship, I think, are Dmitry Samokhin (RUS 76) , Anatoly Loginov (RUS 27) and Igor Goyhberg (RUS 98). But there are two more racing days, three flights. I am sure that the Championship will be held in full compliance with the plan and program. The most important factor of these racing days is that the atmosphere of the competitions is friendly though the races are extremely intense and the battle between the opponents can be clearly seen. Let us see what wind conditions has the weather prepared for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow!”
