Races scheduled on Friday`s morning started on time, in spite of the fact that some forecasts promised calm in the morning. Southwest wind (8knots) gave opportunity to start race.
All twenty Dragons, declared at Championship took part in first race. All participants managed to fix their boats before the racing day start. Before first race leading group consist of: RUS35 (Oleg Khoperskiy), RUS27 (Anatoly Loginov), RUS76 (Dmitry Samohin), RUS34 (Vasily Senators). Далее… →

Gusting southwest wind (18-20 knots) allowed organizers to hold 2 races on Thursday, 21st August. First went to Dmitry Samohin’s Melody Nelson (RUS76), second was won by Annapurna (RUS27) of Anatoly Loginov. But none of them have topped the overall ranking. By two second finishes this was achieved by Oleg Hopersky’s team Sunflower (RUS35). Going into second day of the Russian Dragon Open 2014 the leader board is very tight. Crews of Dmitryi Samosin and (I feel good, RUS34) and Vasily Senatorov (Just for fun, Rus32) have the same points. Next is Leonid Altukhow`s crew who has 12 points. Далее… →

– You won in classic division last year and before it you restored your boat. Do you prepare something special for this season too?
We have two boats: West and Tango. West is standing in boathouse, we don’t use it now. Two years ago we restored “Tango” and this time we are sailing on it. It impossible to do something with Dragons because of downtime boat just dies. So this time we changed it a bit to comply with Dragons class rules. The first day of racing started with skipper’s meeting. The chief referee Vladimir Komel announced that twenty yachts are allowed to participate in the race. Also the protest committee was introduced to yachtsmen: it was composed of Vadim Pribylov, Alexei Borisov and Iana Dobzhitskaya.
Immediately after the meeting, it was an official opening ceremony of the championship. The presentations were made by the head of the National Association of class “Dragon” Dmitry Samohin, Vice-Commandor Yacht Club of St. Petersburg Victor Los and regatta director Tatiana Kurbatova. Далее… →

The practice race of the open Russian Dragon has been continued today in 10-12 knots of strong southerly wind. Almost 20 boats have touched the water and practiced several starts and one full lap and so on. Unfortunately, some incidents happened. Aleksey Leontev sledded and injured knee. – Boris Alexandrovich, in the end of last year`s championship of Russia, you were awarded special prize “legend of class “Dracon”. You and your team took part in world championship, which took place in September Great Britain. What can you say about this regatta? Can you tell us yours impressions?
– Overall, we spend good time there. I took part in different international competitions last year, but it my first time at world championship. Nearly 80 yachts took part in the regatta. It`s not little, so judges decide to divide start line into 2 parts. Далее… →

On Tuesday, August 19 at the yachting port “Hercules” measurement procedure and registration of participants began. First, all formal procedures had been completed by sailors from crew of Anatoly Loginov (RUS27) Vadim Statsenko and Alexander Shalagin. As in the previous season, measuring in this year is selective. Sportsmen and judges, who take part in Russian Dragon Open Championship championship will also live in a country hotel “Olgino”, located in a picturesque area of St. Petersburg, on the shore of Gulf of Finland. The hotel is five minutes by car from the marina “Hercules” where the yachts will be moored and 15-minutes from the metro stations “Chyornaya Rechka” and “Staraya derevnya”.
