Bringing Your Boat

Boat transportation to Saint-Petersburg

The best way to get your boat to St.Petersburg is to take a ferry to Helsinki and then drive to the Russian border. Helsinki is only 380 km away from St.Petersburg.

We advise to take Torfyanovka as border crossing point, as custom officers there are used to sailing boats being transported here and back. They are familiar with the matter rather then at other border crossings.

In general one needs ownership documents for the car, boat, trailer.

If somebody else but the owner of any of these 3 items is crossing the border he will need to have power of attorney for that item.
Additionally one needs green card for the car and trailer (insurance for abroad).

At the border one first goes through the immigration point, where the visa is checked – there one needs to fill in the immigration form, which is handed over right there. The form has 2 parts. The 1st one will be left by the immigration officer, the other one half is given to you and you need to give it at the hotel for registration purposes and after that you need to present this part at the border when you leave the country.

After the border control one passes to the customs where 2 copies of customs declaration must be filled in, declaring that one temporarily moves in a vehicle and a trailer with a Dragon.

1 declaration is left at the border, the other is kept and shown to the customs when one leaves.
When leaving one has to fill in the declaration again, which will state that one leaves the country with temporarily imported car and trailer. Thus while leaving 2 declarations are given to the customs officer – 1 from entry into the country and one for the exit.
